Hotels

There are a lot of hotels in Kyoto, especially around the city center and Kyoto Station (JR: Japan Railway), but very few hotels close to Kyoto University, unfortunately.

  • From the city center to Kyoto University: about 15-20 min by bus
  • From Kyoto Station to Kyoto University: about 30-40 min by bus
The following information may help you when you choose your hotel to stay.
We recommend making reservation as early as possible because it is the tourist season in May in Kyoto. We are afraid that the LOC is unable to book a room for you.

From Hotels to Kyoto University

In addition to using public transport (see below), sharing a taxi or renting a bicycle could be also convenient ways.

1. Take Keihan-Railway

    The station closest to the Science Seminar House is "Demachiyanagi".
    It takes about 15min. from the station to the Science Seminar House by walk.
2. Take Subway and City Bus [Kyoto City Bus and Subway]
    The station closest to the Science Seminar House is "Imadegawa".
    After you get off the subway, take bus #203 bound for Ginkakuji / Kinrin Shako-mae and get off the bus at "Kyodai Nogakubu-mae" (5-10min).
    It takes about 2min. from the bus stop to the Science Seminar House by walk.
3. Take City Bus [Kyoto City Bus]
  • Bus #3: bound for Kitashirakawa Shibuse-cho
    Please get off at "Tanaka Hinokuchicho".
  • Bus #3: bound for Kamihate-cho Kyoto-zokei-geidai-mae
    Please get off at "Hyakumanben".
  • Bus # 17: bound for Ginkaku-ji
    Please get off at "Kyodai Nogakubu-mae".
  • Bus # 206: bound for Kitaoji Bus Terminal via Higashiyama St.
    Please get off at "Hyakumanben".
  • Bus # 201: bound for Gion / Hyakumanben
    Please get off at "Hyakumanben".
  • Bus # 203: bound for Gion / Kinrin Shako-mae
    Please get off at "Kyodai Nogakubu-mae".
    From "Tanaka Hinokuchicho" or "Kyodai Nogakubu-mae", it takes about 2min. to the Science Seminar House by walk.
    From "Hyakumanben", it takes about 10min. to the Science Seminar House by walk.
