On October 1, I will report on the symposium of the Group of OPtical and InfraRed Astronomers (GOPIRA) that was held at NAOJ Mitaka in September 8-10. The title of this symposium was "Prospects of optical and infrared astronomy". The GOPIRA is now editing a book to summarize future plans of optical and infrared astronomy in Japan. The GOPIRA symposium was held for progress reports of this process.

Title：Monte Carlo radiative transfer code SKIRT and the AGN dusty torus
Abstract: I will start by briefly presenting the problem of radiative transfer in dusty astrophysical environments, followed by an overview of SKIRT, the state-of-the-art radiative transfer code based on the Monte Carlo technique. I will present some of the applications of the code, focusing on the modeling of the dusty, obscuring structures in active galactic nuclei (AGN). This structure -- dubbed 'the dusty torus' -- has a major effect on how the AGN looks like, and although the basic picture has been clear for some time, there are still many unresolved issues. We offered a new model of the dusty torus as clumpy two-phase medium, in which high-density clumps are immersed in a smooth dusty medium of much lower density. I will finish by reporting some of our findings from the modeling of the dusty torus infrared emission and outlining our current efforts in understanding these structures.

On November 5, I will talk about the mechanism of rebrightenings. Rebrightening is a phenomenon where brightness increases again after the end of the main superoutburst. There are two competing models as a mechanism for the rebrightening; enhanced mass transfer model and mass reservoir model. These two models predict different temporal evolution of the disk radius. I will introduce Isogai et al. 2014 (http://arxiv.org/abs/1410.5822), which estimated the disk radius after the main superoutburst of EZ Lyn (DNe with multiple rebrightenings) by optical dual-band photometry and spectroscopy. I also talk about our work about PNV J17144255-2943481 and ASASSN-14cv. These objects went through the superoutburst in 2014 and showed multiple rebrightenings. We succeed in estimating their disk radius after the main superoutburst by using their superhumps.

In the next Wednesday seminar, I would like to talk about the recent studies of hidden energy sources in infrared galaxies (1e10Lsun < Lir < 1e15 Lsun) obtained from Spitzer, AKARI, WISE, and Herschel observations. Both the slides and talk will be given in English (or Japanese only when the all participants are Japanese).

In the next seminar, I will introduce the paper, Stone & Metzger 2014 (Rates of Stellar Tidal Disruption as Probes of the Supermassive Black Hole Mass Function).
They try to constrain the emission mechanisms of tidal disruption events from its occurrence rate. If we have time, I will talk about my current study related to the tidal disruption rate with the MAXI all-sky survey.

In the next seminar, I will introduce a shot analysis, and applications of blackhole X-ray binary Cygnus X-1 (Negoro+ 1994, 1995, 2001; Yamada+ 2013). After the introductions, I will present my current study where I apply the shot analysis to the Kepler light curve of blazar W2R 1926+42.

Tomorrow, I'll talk about my recent work "FIR and accretion luminosities of present-day active galactic nuclei", that I carried out last year at Seoul National University.
In this talk, I'll show our results about the relation between star formation luminosity and AGN luminosity of local type-2 AGNs, relating to the AGN -SF connection, based on current FIR facilities (i.e., AKARI and Herschel).
