プロトタイプ OHS (OH-airglow Suppressor)

 波長1〜2μmの近赤外で、観測の妨げとなるOH夜光輝線を除去し、宇宙空間からの観測に近い状態で 宇宙初期の暗い天体の分光観測をする装置。OH夜光を取り除くフィルターと低分散スペクトルを得る OHS本体部と、赤外線カメラから成る (ハワイ大の赤外線カメラ QUIRC を使用)。すばる望遠鏡用の OHSのプロトタイプ装置である。これまでの観測方法より約1mag検出限界を高めることがこの装置により 実証された。
