HL CMa: Atypically Long Outbursts
From the end of 2001, the object was in a standstill. It had started fading
since January 3, 2002 (vsnet-campaign-dn
2023, 2027,
2032).
The fading stopped around January 8 when a possible brightening was reported
(vsnet-campaign-dn
2038, 2039).
Reported observations showed short time-scale variations during the outburst
when it was at about 12.6-12.8mag (vsnet-campaign
1273, 1274).
This state was terminated by another brightening to 11.4mag on January 15
(vsnet-campaign-dn
2050, 2051,
2060).
This outburst (, or possibly a bright standstill) continued for an atypically
long time, about two weeks (vsnet-campaign-dn
2073, 2077,
2085).
The fading from the bright state almost stopped at about 12.7mag, significantly
above the quiescent state (vsnet-campaign-dn
2106, 2114).
A definite outburst to 11.5mag was reported on February 11 (vsnet-campaign-dn
2118, 2123,
2130).
The duration of this outburst was also long, over two weeks (vsnet-campaign-dn
2144). The fading from the outburst was quite slowly, and almost remained
at around 12mag again, which was probably a standstill (vsnet-campaign-dn
2146, 2147,
2166,
2194,
2199,
2210,
2220,
2264,
2307,
2350,
2444,
2872).
