XTE J1859+226

A final HST/RXTE visit to this source (most likely an accretion disk emptying into a black hole) is performed on March 5. On March 2 06:00 UT RXTE J1859+226 had faded considerably to R=18.0 (Casares, private communication) and RXTE ASM flux of about 13 mCrab, but clearly remains X-ray active (vsnet-alert 4332). M. Garcia et al. reported in IAUC 7466 that further observations of the optical counterpart to this soft x-ray transient which had underwent optical and x-ray re-flares. Observations with the CTIO 0.9m telescope on July 23.1, 24.1, and 25.1 (UT) find R = 20.8 +/- 0.3, 20.2 +/- 0.1, 19.8 +/- 0.1 (vsnet-campaign-xray 24).
