During the first two months after the discovery, Nova Cas 1993 was under very intensive observation. The weighting algorithm has the effect of neutralizing (partly at least) the subjective element in the estimations. Therefore the fluctuations appearing on the light curve are likely to be closely related to real fluctuations of the nova.
After the 'dip' only a few observations per day have been reported. The weighting algorithm has only minor effect and the curve is merely a 'one-obs-one-dot' curve. Therefore the fluctuations appearing on the light curve reflects the subjective element in the estimations by different observers rather than real fluctuations of the nova.
