Possible ALEXIS transient

(vsnet-alert 737)

ALEXIS has detected a potential transient in Telescope 2A (130 Angstroms, 93eV) at:

         RA= (13 54 24)
         DEC=(44 48.36)
         (Epoch 2000)

         Error circle radius = 0.6 degrees (~90% confidence)

There was no evidence of the object in the co-aligned telescope 2B (186 Angstroms, 66eV).

The source turn on appeared to start about 5 UT 19 Feb, peaked at 8 UT 19 Feb and was decaying at last contact with the satellite (20 UT). The outburst is flare-like with a fast rise and slower decay.

A Simbad search only locates 9 objects within 40 arcminutes of the source location.

Follow up observations are encouraged
