ALEXIS transient on 1996 Dec. 6

(vsnet-alert 614)

ALEXIS has detected a potential transient in Telescope 2A (130 Angstroms, 93eV) at:

         RA= (08 54.29)
         DEC=(26 42.8)
         (Epoch 2000)

         Error circle radius = 0.55 degrees (~90% confidence)

There was no evidence of the object in the co-aligned telescope 2B (66 eV). The source appeared to turn on about 8 UT 6 Dec, 1996, peaked at 20 UT 6 Dec and was in the process of decaying at 0 UT 7 Dec when the most recent contact with the satellite was made.

A simbad search reveals 19 sources in the error box. Follow up observations are encouraged
