title: Dust settling in protoplanetary disks with ALMA authors: Y. Boehler; A. Dutrey, S. Guilloteau; V. Pietu abstract: Thanks to the important gain in resolution and in sensibility of ALMA, dust settling in protoplanetary disks will surely be detectable for the first time at millimeter wavelength. This phenomenon has a major impact for planet formation as it allows to concentrate solid matter in small areas. This can potentially cause gravitational instabilities or help them to occur. This step is fundamental to understand how dust grains grow from centimeter size to planetesimals of several kilometers. Thus, we have improved our transfert radiativ code to implement dust settling and reproduced ALMA observations for different populations of grains. With this work, we are now able to identify tracks of settling and we will show you how to quantify it and which observational strategy to adopt.
