Future perspective on collaboration between Gemini and Subaru Hideki Takami (Subaru Telescope) Abstract It has been ten years since Gemini and Subaru started the operation at Mauna Kea, and have been producing excellent astronomical outputs as largest opt/IR telescopes in the world. It is the good time for us to think about our future now. Astronomy is becoming more and more competitive. More 8-10 m class telescopes are in operation. Construction budget of instruments is getting larger. 30 m class telescopes are planed for 2020's. Under such situation, it is important for Gemini, Subaru and also other telescopes in Mauna Kea share their knowledge and collaborate in science and instrumentation for us to keep leadership in astronomy. We would like to discuss on possible collaboration between Gemini and Subaru in this talk.
