Title: Extragalatic Star Cluster in NGC6872 Author: Gelys Trancho Abstract: Our recent work on the tidal tails of another merger remnant, NGC 3256 (Trancho et al 2007), has demonstrated that star clusters can form in this thus-far unexplored region of galaxies. NGC 6872 is a natural target to follow up on our exciting results as our recent photometric study (Bastias et al 2004) of the tidal tails has hinted at a large population of star clusters there. We will present the results of our spectroscopy measure on these cluster carrying on with GMOS-S in MOS mode. We will confirm the existence of this seemingly large population, as well as to derive each clusters' age, metallicity and extinction. All this together will be used to search for correlations with galactocentric distance, which are predicted from galaxy merger models.
